Transmitzvah
Synopsis
TRANSMITZVAH is a love story between two siblings who lay bare their wounds, exchange the parts that each has of the other and complete (or initiate) the process of reaffirming their own identity. Rubén, the youngest Singman son, breaks all the rules by deciding to hold a Bat Mitzvah instead of a Bar Mitzvah. Twenty years later, Rubén, now MUMY SINGER, a celebrated figure on the Yiddish music scene, returns to her native city. Following a family tragedy, MUMY loses her voice and decides to complete her delayed rite of passage to adulthood with the help of her brother EDUARDO. A playful, musical and festive comic dialogue about MUMY SINGER and her journey back to her own past to reinvent herself outside of all shortcuts and labels. The road leading to who we are is one that we should all walk down.
